Until Dawn 2 Pre-Orders Begin With Lower Than Expected Price Tag

The long-awaited sequel to one of the horror genres most iconic game, Until Dawn 2, just had pre-orders go live on PS5 in preparation for January 28 of next year, and the price has surprised fans.

The news (via PSU) shows that Until Dawn 2 is priced at only $49.99 USD, a steep discount from the usual $69.99 price tag we see so frequently today.

Until Dawn 2 is a sequel, but not a direct continuation of the first game. Instead, it follows a new cast who are effectively YouTube influencers who get caught in a dangerous situation, this is a major difference from the first game by having a tropical setting in the sequel. Those who played the first know the original took place in the isolated snowy mountains in the middle of winter.

The Until Dawn series has been quite active lately, as the original game received a full remake for PS5 along with a feature film of the same name that was successful with audiences.

The developers of the sequel, Firesprite, were also revealed to have had assistance from the developer AdHoc Studio. This should be a big help for the game’s story and choices, as AdHoc is made up mostly of former Telltale Games staff who got laid off when the original studio was closed, a studio that mastered story-telling.

The price tag for Until Dawn 2 is certainly a forgiving amount, as so often now games with less content still charge the full $70, whereas this game seems to be a little bit smaller of a scale, making the discounted price fair to gamers.

The developer of the sequel has changed as well, as Supermassive Games created the terrifying original, whereas the newer PlayStation studio, Firesprite, is taking the reigns to the franchise, and giving their own take on the series while still honoring Supermassive’s iconic original.

Until Dawn 2 is nearly here, and gamers will not have to pay a hefty amount to experience a sequel that intends to follow-up one of gaming all-time great horror stories.
