Halloween week is the perfect time of the year to turn off the lights and settle in with a great horror game (even if you end up wishing you’d left a lamp on). PlayStation has plenty of excellent options for anyone looking for a good scare, and there’s something especially fitting about spending the season hesitating outside a virtual door while trying to convince yourself that whatever’s behind it can’t be that bad. Right?
So, I’ve put together five horror games you should play on your PlayStation this Halloween, with a few recommendations that might make you reconsider playing alone.
Every game on this list is on sale on the PlayStation Store until November 4, so this a golden opportunity to pick up your next nightmare. Grab your controller and let’s find something worth losing sleep over.
Until Dawn
Until Dawn is a cinematic horror adventure that follows eight friends spending the night at an isolated mountain lodge, where their reunion soon becomes a struggle to survive until morning. You control each member of the group, exploring their surroundings and making decisions that influence their relationships and determine how the story unfolds.
Drawing inspiration on familiar slasher films, the game combines a growing mystery with tense chase sequences, where failed QTEs (quick time events) can have everlasting consequences. Its greatest source of tension is knowing that any character can die and you’re the responsible for who makes it through the night.
The PS4 version of Until Dawn is currently 75% off on the PlayStation Store.
Outlast 2
Outlast 2 is a first-person survival horror game that follows cameraman Blake Langermann as an investigation with his wife, Lynn, leads them into an isolated religious community in the Arizona desert. When separated from her and surrounded by hostile followers, Blake must search for answers while escaping people determined to kill him.
Unable to fight back, you depend on hiding carefully and using your camcorder’s night vision to navigate the darkness, making its limited battery supply another source of anxiety. Of course, combining religious fanaticism with graphic violence makes the atmosphere even more oppressive, especially when you barely get a moment to catch your breath before another enemy starts chasing you.
Outlast 2 is currently 75% off on the PlayStation Store.
Layers Of Fear
Layers of Fear is a first-person psychological horror game that rebuilds the original and its sequel for PS5, connecting their stories through additional chapters. You follow artists consumed by their work, exploring unsettling locations that reflect their deteriorating mental states.
The gameplay revolves around exploration and environmental puzzles, with scattered objects gradually revealing the tragedies behind each story. Its horror draws heavily on your inability to trust your surroundings, as familiar corridors transform around you and ordinary paintings become increasingly difficult to look at without expecting something to move.
Layers of Fear is currently 65% off on the PlayStation Store.
A.I.L.A
A.I.L.A is a first-person horror game set in the near future. You play as Samuel, a game tester trying an experimental artificial intelligence designed to create personalized horror experiences. Within these simulations, you encounter threats ranging from a ritualistic cult to medieval undead, with some scenarios demanding escape and others allowing you to fight back. Between the tests, Samuel has the incredible idea of providing feedback that helps A.I.L.A understand what frightens him, giving the next session an increasingly uncomfortable significance.
In this case, the horror grows from being studied by something that wants to understand your fears, particularly as the boundary between the simulations and Samuel’s everyday life begins to blur.
A.I.L.A is currently 50% off on the PlayStation Store.
Amnesia: Collection
Amnesia: Collection brings together The Dark Descent, A Machine for Pigs, and Justine, offering three unsettling experiences from the classic franchise that helped define modern first person horrorgames, with vulnerable protagonists forced to confront disturbing secrets. The collection extends the vulnerability of not having ways to fight back, into an industrial nightmare and a series of cruel trials, providing plenty of unsettling discoveries for anyone willing to keep moving through the darkness.
Amnesia: Collectionis currently 80% off on the PlayStation Store.
These five picks should give you plenty of scares this Halloween, so make the most of the PlayStation Store discounts and choose whichever nightmare catches your eye!
The offers listed are available until November 4, 2026. Prices and discounts may vary by region.
