Dead By Deadlight Characters Like Pinhead & Michael Myers Have ‘Open Invitation

Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive has said that various horror icons such as Pinhead and Michael Myers that have been removed from the game were beyond the studio’s control, but noted they have an ‘open invitation’ to return.

Chucky is set to be removed from the popular horror title on November 24, with the Child’s Play-themed content having featured the iconic killer doll as a playable character alongside the Legendary Outfit featuring his bride, Tiffany. Prior to that, Halloween’s Michael Myers was given the boot in January this year, with Pinhead of Hellraiser fame being removed last year.

“As with all live service games, players can expect regular updates, new content, and occasional changes over time,” Behaviour Interactive told IGN. “Our goal is always to keep licenses in our game forever. When they have to go away, it’s because – despite our best efforts – it wasn’t possible to retain them.”

We want to reassure our community that Chucky will remain part of the Dead by Daylight experience for existing owners. Players who already own The Good Guy, his perks, or any associated cosmetics will still be able to use that content after November 24, 2026. Dead by Daylight will always be gaming’s House of Horror, and horror icons will continue to have an open invitation to join (or rejoin) us in the Fog.

Dead by Daylight was originally release for the PC in 2016 and has since launched for multiple formats including PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. The game takes the form of a asymmetric multiplayer title where one player assumes the role of a killer and must hunt down four other Survivors, and in the last decade has crossed over with many iconic horror video and and movie franchises, including Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Child’s Play, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Scream, Alien, The Walking Dead, and more.
