Spirit Ritual is a terrifying ghost story that blends full motion video with mixed-reality gameplay.
Spirit Ritual is a supernatural horror game, played in either mixed reality or virtual reality, in which you play as a psychic medium attempting to break a demonic curse. You'll use hand-tracking controls to conjure a spirit board to enter the spirit realm and equip your old-timey spirit camera to capture ghosts.
The game was announced via a trailer as part of today's VR Games Showcase.

Some of the more interesting features seen in the game's trailer include 3D FMV (full motion video) performances by real-life actors. We've seen this sort of presentation used to great and terrible effect at various times over the past thirty-odd years of gaming. Here, thankfully, it looks well-done and quite terrifying.
The game's native presentation is in mixed-reality, a mode which has "ghosts manifesting inside your own home," according to the developer. However there is also an optional virtual reality mode for users who prefer it.
Spirit Ritual is coming to PICO 4, SteamVR, and Meta Quest. A release date for this spooky Fatal Frame-like has not yet been revealed.
