Scary Baboon, the terrifying multiplayer horror title on Meta Quest, is doubling down on what it does best this Halloween with a spooky, seasonal update bringing fresh scares, scavenger hunts, and a haunting new monster.
This fall, you might want to think twice before trusting the player next to you....
Meet the Mimic
The Lab has a new resident.
But unlike BlackGooGoo or Big Larry, the Mimic looks like any other baboon. It’s only once you get close enough that you discover what’s really going on.
The new monster listens to players around it and repeats what they’ve said, using their own voices to lure unsuspecting players closer before pouncing. This introduces a terrifying new spectre to Scary Baboon. Can you trust your friends anymore?
Trick or Treat
Halloween also brings a new co-op feature: the Trick or Treat event.
Now, players have eight minutes to search the map for 50 pieces of candy, including sweets hidden in some of Scary Baboon's darker and more dangerous areas. Everyone in the lobby plays together, so finding all 50 means working together while avoiding the monsters hunting you.
Complete the hunt in time, and every player gets a limited edition Halloween treat.
The Lab Gets a Halloween Makeover
Long-time players might recognise a few things when they return to The Lab.
The Lab’s Halloween theme is back, along with some old familiar favourite faces and locations, like BlackGooGoo and Meatman.
Baboo is also returning to The Lab for the update. The in-game store gets a spooky makeover too, with a brand new selection of Halloween exclusive cosmetics, available throughout the event.
Take Flight With Spirit Surge
Fan-favorite pets are getting something new, too.
Spirit Surge transforms your pet into a rocket-gauntlet. Hold the trigger, and it pulls you in the direction of your arm, letting you fly through the environment while leaving a ghostly trail behind you.
During the transformation, your character takes on a spectral appearance, and connecting with an enemy using your fist deals damage on impact.
