Resident Evil Requiem Officially Arrives at Universal Studios With The Dive

Resident Evil is celebrating its 30th anniversary this September in Japan's Universal Studios with a terrifying maze straight from Resident Evil Requiem. The horror maze is based off of two of the main locations in the latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise: the Wrenwood Hotel and the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center.

Resident Evil fans can experience Requiem in more depth than they might like, as the horror night promises to surround maze-goers from all angles with surprise attacks, disgustingly vicious creatures, everything else that makes the Resident Evil franchise so iconic.

Resident Evil Heads to Universal Studios Japan's Halloween Horror Nights

Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive immerses people in Resident Evil Requiem. The ninth installment in the Resident Evil franchise is one of the series' most terrifying, as it heads in the same direction of both Resident Evil Biohazard and Resident Evil Village by putting horror first.

The maze looks to recreate that terror with relentless, horrifying creatures who will attack maze-goers from the floor, ceiling, and everywhere else they wouldn't expect. The event begins on September 11 and runs until December 17, giving fans of the series in Japan plenty of time to get lost in the nightmarish world of Resident Evil.

Universal Studios will open this event from 10:00 a.m. until the park closes, but guests under 14-years-old aren't allowed in. Characters from the game are set to appear as well, and maze-goers will need them. Universal Studios hasn't specified who from the game will appear, but this could be a good opportunity to check out the legendary DSO operative Leon S. Kennedy in the flesh.

Resident Evil Celebrates 30 (Terrifying) Years

Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive isn't Capcom's only celebration of their most succesful franchise. The 30th anniversary will also see a pair of life-sized statues modeled after Lady Dimitrescu and Albert Wesker brought to life. They're two of the most iconic villains in a series known for larger-than-life characters, and fans in Tokyo can check them out from October 30 to December 24 at the BEAM Gallery in Shibuya.

There are few franchises as iconic as Resident Evil. It's a franchise that has changed a lot over the years. It started as a horror game with claustrophobia-inducing locations and even tighter angles before adopting a third-person perspective and adding more action to its formula.

The previous trilogy of games, however, have taken the franchise back to its horror roots, and nothing screams horror more than the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive event.
