Hello Games released Forsaken, a free Halloween-themed update (version 7.10) for No Man's Sky, on October 28, 2026, sending players to the game's scariest corners to scavenge haunted technology for a new cast of strange traders.
The studio's official update page describes the new loop: hunt for rare haunted tech and biological horrors in derelict hulks, abandoned freighters, planet dig sites and infested outposts, then trade what you salvage with enigmatic collector NPCs who have crossed the universe to gather samples for their collections.
Biomechanical ships and a grub cannon
Trading salvaged mementos with those collectors unlocks biomechanical corvette modules, which Hello Games says let players "lean fully into that creepy and organic side of sleek sci-fi ships", along with new cockpits and a disquieting new ship interior set. Cosmetics include a larva tank helmet and a wriggling grub cannon multi-tool, and new postal missions let players work as a delivery driver across the galaxy.
Star-to-star warping without the map
Alongside the horror content, the patch adds what Hello Games calls seamless warping: lock onto the brightest star in the sky from the cockpit and travel straight there without opening the galactic map. A radial weapon-select menu and a minimal HUD mode round out the interface changes, and Forsaken is available on Mac, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch 1 & 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and VR.
The update landed the same day No Man's Sky arrived on iPhone and iPad, a port Hello Games calls "impossible". The mobile version bundles all 40-plus updates into a single 4GB download, runs on iPhone 11 or later or a 3rd Generation iPad Air or later, and offers the first chunk of the game free on supported iPhones.
Hello Games' material does not make clear whether the horror content is permanent or tied to the season. Forsaken is the game's fifth major update of its tenth anniversary year, arriving about a month after Cosmos, the anniversary update that let players build their own space stations. "We're already deep in planning for what sort of craziness we can get up to in 2027," said founder Sean Murray.
