When is the Mimic release date? What is Mimic? Mimic’s android can hunt any player Private matches can be customizedA new asymmetrical multiplayer horror game called Mimic will launch in Early Access for PC on October 27, 2026, developer Ryan Laley Games has announced.
Coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store, Mimic combines social deduction with survival horror aboard a failing spacecraft where one of the survivors is secretly a shape-shifting alien.

Rather than simply placing a group of survivors against a single killer, Mimic assigns players hidden roles with different objectives and win conditions. Players will need to repair the doomed Icarus spacecraft, uncover the impostor in their ranks, and avoid an android programmed to eliminate anything it believes could be the alien.
When is the Mimic release date?
Mimic will be released in Steam and Epic Games Store Early Access on October 27, 2026.
Public matchmaking will support five players, while customizable private matches will allow groups of up to ten people to play together.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also planned for 2027, following the game’s PC Early Access period.
What is Mimic?
Mimic takes place aboard the Icarus, a spacecraft suffering from failing systems and dwindling oxygen supplies.
Most players take on the role of crew members who must complete objectives, restore the ship’s vital systems, and prepare an escape shuttle. However, other players may have considerably less helpful intentions.
One player is secretly the Mimic, an alien capable of disguising itself as another human survivor. Its objective is to blend into the group, earn the crew’s trust, and attack when its victims are isolated or vulnerable.
Another player can be assigned the role of a corporate agent. Although still human, the agent has a private agenda that does not necessarily involve ensuring everyone else survives.
Players will therefore need to decide whether suspicious behaviour means someone is the alien, secretly working for the corporation, or simply panicking as the ship falls apart around them.
Proximity voice chat can be used to coordinate repairs, share information, accuse other players, or convincingly lie about what happened in a dark corridor.
Mimic’s android can hunt any player
The Mimic is not the only creature pursuing the survivors.
An NPC-controlled android patrols the Icarus and attempts to kill any organic lifeform it suspects may be the alien. Players can vote at any time to direct the android towards a specific member of the group.
That means the machine can be used to eliminate a genuine threat, dispose of an innocent player, or carry out somebody else’s personal agenda.
There are no conventional weapons available, so players must survive by hiding, completing objectives, manipulating the android, and deciding who they can safely trust.
Death does not necessarily remove players from the match either. Eliminated players return as invisible entities called Omens, which can interact with the ship and sabotage the survivors who remain alive.
Private matches can be customized
Public matchmaking will use a fixed set of rules, but private lobby hosts will be able to modify objectives, environmental hazards, enemy behaviour, and other gameplay systems.
The game will also include Twitch integration, allowing viewers to influence matches by helping direct the android’s pursuit.
Ryan Laley Games says the Early Access version will offer a “feature-rich multiplayer gameplay experience,” with additional maps, roles, progression systems, mechanics, and narrative content planned during development.
Mimic launches on Steam and the Epic Games Store on October 27, 2026. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are scheduled to follow in 2027.
